Summer Health Professions Educational Program (SHPEP) Formerly SMDEP, this program provides FREE academic enrichment for freshman and sophomore students interested in the health professions. Applications close March 1.
Mini-Med Program at New Jersey Medical School NJMS’ MiniMed School is designed for laypersons and prospective adults wishing to consider careers in the health care sciences. The cost of the program is $125.
PULSE – Pre-med Urban Leaders Summer Enrichment Program at Cooper Med Sch Explore careers, gain clinical skills, and broaden your knowledge of medicine, science and technology in the PULSE program at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University.
PennPREP (Post-Bacc Research Education Program)
A one- to two-year research experience at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia for students who have completed college and are interested in pursuing a doctoral degree in the biomedical sciences. This program provides significant research experience and preparation for applying to and succeeding in graduate school.
NJ’s Petey Greene Program This is an opportunity to tutor incarcerated men and women in NJ state prisons. TCNJ students typically tutor at Jones Farm, located here in Ewing, once a week for about three hours.
EcoPraticum Intensive environmental education and action programs for college students and recent grads. Hands-on farm work, meetings with experts, and thoughtful discussions. In NYC during spring break; Catskills late May through June; and Hawaii over winter break.
EkoTracks Study abroad programs, internships, and volunteer opportunities in South Africa for students interested in veterinary science, conservation management, and sustainable resource utilization.
Danish Institute for Study Abroad DIS is a Danish non-profit study abroad institution in Copenhagen with semester, academic year, and summer programs taught in English. DIS offers American students engaging and challenging coursework enriched by field studies, hands-on learning opportunities, and study tours in Denmark and across Europe. Cultural engagement opportunities integrate students into Danish culture and prepare them for a globalized world. DIS students are usually undergraduate juniors or seniors from highly selective US universities.
Operation Wallacea Operation Wallacea is a biodiversity research and conservation management organization hosting scientific expeditions in Indonesia, Transylvania, South Africa, Madagascar, Peru, Guyana, Honduras and Mexico. These research sites are run in remote locations with the help of university volunteers and academics from around the world.
The Central Caribbean Marine Institute CCMI and Rutgers University invite students to apply for our Coral Reef Internship program. Participants will learn about principles of tropical ecology, sustainability and management, through a combination of fieldwork and lecture series. Students will finally develop and conduct a field research project with a principal investigator relating to coral reef ecosystems in the Caribbean. These projects will be developed into a joint research poster that may be published or presented at a national or international conference. Students are also engaged in data collection as part of 15 years of active research by CCMI at one of the world’s most beautiful coral reef systems surrounding Little Cayman and the Bloody Bay Marine Park.

One Heart Source offers experiential learning programs in Cape Town, South Africa for pre-med or health-focused students seeking to broaden health care skills in real-world environments.
Eagle Hill Institute, Steuben, ME Eagle Hill offers natural history science programs, seminars and workshops on a variety of topics, all taking place on the pristine coast of eastern Maine. Summer 2017 seminars will feature seminars on insects and arthropods.
Ecosystem Field Studies Summer field courses offered by the Environmental Studies Program of the Univ of Montana at Missoula. 2017 locations include Rocky Mtns and Caribbean Coral Reef.
