Bio Alum Aaron Lee Receives Award

Recent biology major Aaron Lee, a December 2019 magna cum laude graduate, has been named a recipient of the Young Botanist Award from the Botanical Society of America. He joins another dozen or so students from around the country receiving this award, the purpose of which is to “offer individual recognition to outstanding graduating seniors in the plant sciences, and to encourage their participation in the Botanical Society of America,” according to the Botanical Society of America’s website.

Mr. Lee has received other competitive, national recognition in the past, including as a 2019 recipient of a Goldwater Scholarship, which honors “exceptional students who plan to pursue graduate degrees in the STEM fields and careers in research.”

Indeed, Mr. Lee shares that he will be continuing his academic studies within the Plant and Microbial Biology graduate program at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities in the fall. He adds, “Even if it turns out classes will be online, I’m still excited to start this new chapter, and continue the type of academic research I started while at TCNJ.”

Mr. Lee’s research mentor, Wendy Clement, PhD, writes, “It is really exciting to see his accomplishments recognized at the national level.”

We are so proud of Mr. Lee, and all of our majors. We wish him all the best as he continues on this path.
